This Role In Summary:


Whirlpool is seeking a Head of HR (Senior Manager, Human Resources) to support the Northern Europe Team. This HR leader will be the strategic Human Resources Business Partner for the Northern Europe Cluster of ~350 employees. 

Northern Europe is a cluster of countries: DACH Region (Germany-Austria-Switzerland), Nordics, Belgium and Netherland. He/she will be responsible for developing and executing organizational strategies that align structure, culture and talent with business goals while providing coaching to people leaders.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Leads and deploys the People Excellence agenda for the business, including strategic programs, actions and initiatives that enable the delivery of the business strategy. 
  • Serves as a strategic business partner, consulting with executives & senior leaders on organization design & development (planning, assessment/diagnosis, evaluation, following-up).
  • Coaches executives and senior leaders to facilitate achievement of established business objectives through effective people management.
  • Partners with a regional team of business partners and effectively works within a global HR operating model (Centers of Excellence, HR Operations, and Business HR).
  • Recruits, develops and retains a high-performing and talented workforce. 
  • Acts as strategic change management facilitator.
  • Develops and drives the overall execution of talent and organization practices and processes across the global organization.
  • Ensures a deep understanding of the “State of the Organization & Talent”, utilizing data and insights (i.e. attrition, future talent pipeline, engagement, current talent makeup, org makeup, etc.), and utilizes to inform the People agenda & initiatives. 
  • Partners with Global HR CoEs to ensure business needs are incorporated into CoE strategies, processes, etc. 
  • Utilizes deep talent and organizational effectiveness knowledge and experience to act as a coach to the organization, and build capability to enable an Agile Organization, Great People, and Winning Culture.
  • Act as a strategic Cluster Leader for trade union relations (4 different pay groups in the Cluster) at cluster level. She/He will be responsible to coordinate the trade unions negotiation in Germany, Benelux and Nordics on an annual basis. She/he will be responsible to guide/coach the business HR in daily trade union routine such as shift changes, workforce planning, canteen/voucher agreement, etc. 
  • Facilitates annual organization planning, salary & fringe (S&F) profit planning and talent processes for the organization, in alignment with corporate processes, timelines and tools.
  • Leads annual talent management processes across the business, including Performance Management, Compensation Planning, Talent Assessment, Succession Planning, & Employee Engagement. 
  • Partners with Global Talent Acquisition on sourcing strategies and execution needed to address key talent gaps (e.g.: critical leadership roles, proactive sourcing/market mapping to address succession gaps, critical skill sets, leadership pipeline programs, etc.).
  • Partners with Global Learning & Development on development and global execution of programs associated with leadership development, people leader effectiveness, onboarding, mentoring, etc. 
  • Ensures deep understanding of individual, key talent within the organization (e.g.: leadership talent, next generation talent, talent in critical roles). 
  • Enables strategic talent management practices such as early identification, understanding of individual employee motivators and associated development & retention, career acceleration assignments, reward & recognition, etc. 
  • Participate with others in completing special projects as assigned. 
  • Manages compensation and benefits programs including pay adjustments, incentives and bonus programs for the managed workforce.


Minimum Qualifications:  

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or other related field. 
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive, relevant experience in human resources, partnering with senior level business executives 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior HR Business Partner, talent management, multinational / multicultural experience
  • Master’s degree

  • Organizational Effectiveness: Creates an effective and strong organization by utilizing organizational diagnosis tools, leveraging organization design principles, and building organization capabilities in line with Whirlpool’s core values to win against the competition  
  • Data-driven Insights: Applies data analytics and judgment to draw insights that inform business decision making  
  • Coach: Uses coaching and influencing skills to successfully drive change and leaders’ ownership/accountability  
  • Change Champion: Partners to lead and sustain change creating an agile and responsive organization
  • Trade union acumen: managing trade unions and track record of trade union negotiation (e.g. factory shut down, production shift, org rightsizing for restructuring, downsizing of the workforce etc) will be appreciated
