This Role In Summary: 

The North American Region (NAR) New Product Introduction (NPI) Horizontal Axis (HA) Washer Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Manager ensures that HA Washer regional projects follow WPD requirements as an integrated core team member. This Quality Manager is responsible for managing HA Washer NPI Launch Quality through collaboration with the core team to develop strategies, track and execute plans that deliver the program quality objectives. Additionally, the Quality Manager will engage the platform architect, global laundry APQP lead and washer components, subsystems and product level solutions.


Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Partner and maintain collaboration with GPO, GSS, EES, SDE, and operations to develop project plans to achieve quality targets for NPI launches.
  • Manage the APQP Dashboard execution - Lead the score definition discussion, link to the evidences and guide project team on actions to be executed from G0 to G4
  • Calculate KPIs, report KPIs and ensure there is an action plan covering KPIs not meeting targets including product capability, process capability, test coverage, project maturity, GSIR and TCQ
  • Track, facilitate and lead project issue tracking & root cause until resolution - throughout project execution (FRACAS)
  • Facilitate CPM list definition and metrics highlighting risks to the project team
  • Provide dFMEA mentoring, and inputs/verifications for product level and subsystems
  • Utilize technical competency to collaborate with design and process engineering in understanding, implementing and ensuring flawless execution of Design for Assembly / Design for Manufacturing requirements during NPI and ownership related to the ongoing monitoring/audit of the established DFA/DFM requirements. 
  • Participate in design reviews with focus on voice of consumer & quality
  • With core team alignment, promote, develop and track the Quality Assurance Plan including dFMEA/design Reviews, CUFT, Pilot Plan, Control Plans, PPAP, and OTS plan
  • Ensure O&R (occurrence and release) are properly executed by cross functional teams during the appropriate milestones
  • Provide fault tree support for service & CXC care team specific to new product features and operation.
  • Provide quality system NPI inputs for heat map, and 5 star product grouping and features
  • Execute Early Production Containment/Safe Launch - Manage & complete weekly reports of the manufacturing, 5 star and field quality data to detect issues early, drive containment actions and develop sustainable corrective actions after launch.
  • Support Overall Business Team and Operations objectives including delivery of 5 STAR, TCQ, GSIR, CAL, FPY.
  • Drive the implementation of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) including support of launch and proactive QA matrix development.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 4+ years of mechanical or electrical systems experience
  • 2+ years of dFMEA experience


Preferred Skills and Experiences:

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics / Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Whirlpool Product Development (WPD) / Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) experience preferred
  • Problem Solving Mindset
  • Six Sigma (or equivalent) black belt certification preferred
  • Leadership skills
  • Project management experience including influencing others
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to drive initiatives that support change
  • Ability to create and lead effective cross-functional teams to gain alignment and resolve issues and deliver results
