This role in summary

 

Whirlpool is seeking qualified candidates for a Manager, Product Development. The role is based at our St. Joseph, MI location. The Cost and Quality Planning Manager will lead cost and quality portfolio management for Vertical Axis
Washers  produced in NAR and designed globally. This position will have a significant level of responsibility, exposure to executive leadership, and the opportunity to make a positive and measurable impact on a large, global organization.

Your responsibilities will include

 

  • Work closely with the Global Platforms Architecture and Subsystem teams and the regional manufacturing, procurement, finance and quality teams to understand the business needs, align the main strategies for cost and quality improvement and report out the results.
  • Managing a large portfolio of projects for the NAR region as the bridge between regional
  • manufacturing plants and the global design teams
  • Lead creation of project portfolio with cross functional team
  • Manage project portfolio for cost and quality
  • Cross functional management of cost and quality initiatives
  • Establishes and monitors Cost and Quality targets and drives actions for deviations
  • Report out the results in Senior Leadership Meetings
  • Align and deploy year over year targets
  • Consolidates Cost and Quality indicators (Cash Flow, Carry Over, Payback, Capex, Budget, SIR)
  • Works in Continuous improvement projects and process standardization.
  • Runs Design for Value (DFV) workshops to build project pipelines for Cost and Quality projects.

Minimum requirements

 

  • Bachelors Degree 
  • 3+ years of experience in product development with cost and quality initiatives

Preferred skills and experiences

 

  • Masters Degree
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to drive others at all levels of the business
  • Ability to synthesize information into clear, concise messages in a compelling manner
  • Ability to breakdown barriers in a positive way to engage cross functional team in delivering challenging projects
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and present data-driven insights and trends with a close attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and effectively influence across areas of product development, business and supply chain;
  • Proficient in English, additional languages are also a bonus but not required.
  • Outstanding Spreadsheets abilities and use of Google applications ( Docs, Presentations, Smartsheets, Forms) SAP / Windchill experience 
  • Experience with Project Management and Design work experience
