Function Overview

Currently seeking a Product Development Engineer in the Product Development Excellence (PDx) team at our St. Joseph, MI location.  The candidate will be responsible to support maintenance and continuous improvement of Whirlpool Product Development (WPD) system which includes Planning, Advanced Development Project (ADP) and Production Development Project (PDP) process. The candidate will also be part of Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) team responsible to write requirements, evaluate the tool, create training material and finally deploy the tool within Whirlpool. The role requires working with the cross-functional team in multiple platforms.


Job Responsibilities

  • Be a part of the PPM Phoenix team to support Portfolio Management workstream, identify requirements, use case, perform testing, create training material and be a trainer for the tool
  • Develop and implement a document strategy taking into account our current strategic tools and processes
  • Collaborate with the cross-category teams to identify continuous improvement opportunities of WPD system and drive implement the change
  • Be an ambassador of PDx team and take responsibility to help & support teams for WPD deployment
  • Develop and implement a strategy to measure the progress of the WPD system processes and tools
  • Create actionable insights to quickly improve complexity, capabilities, tools and WPD System
  • Identify ways to track and measure WPD process results with respect to process adherence


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years of work experience in engineering product development

  • Self-prioritization and organization with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Self-motivation and a desire to take the initiative to solve problems
  • Fluent in English
  • Have a great sense of urgency and capability to work under pressure for multiple tasks
  • A desire to learn, develop and grow in career 
  • Strong communications skills with a focus on detail, clarity, and consistency
  • Able to effectively work in a team as well as being an individual contributor
  • Proficient in use of Google Suites tools
  • Knowledge of Lean Product Development 
  • Proficient in Organizational Change Management (OCM)
