This role in summary

 

Whirlpool is seeking a qualified candidate for a Payroll Specialist role to join our Global Human Resources organization. The role is located at Benton Harbor, MI.  In this role you will be responsible for day to day operations of processing payroll for our US Whirlpool employee population both bi-weekly and monthly.  During a payroll week you will be executing the detailed steps to process, verify, audit and complete payroll processing.  During off-payroll weeks you will be reviewing and working individual’s pay discrepancy cases, overpayment calculations, documentation and looking for processing improvements.

Your responsibilities will include

 

  • Perform, execute and review US multistate payroll processing activities for hourly and salary employees.  
  • Process on cycle biweekly payrolls, monthly payrolls and periodic off cycle payrolls including relocation, stock and bonus for US employees. 
  • Produce overpayment calculations and administer collections processes to employees and former employees.
  • May manage time and attendance calendar and reminders for salary non-exempt employees.
  • Conduct payroll audits and control (pre/post payroll) to ensure control and compliance.
  • Process payroll adjustments as needed and ensure proper calculation of requested changes.
  • Provide research and support for payroll related inquiries to ensure a timely response.
  • Assist with team objectives and other activities ie. payroll testing, process improvements, automation opportunities, metrics and reporting,
  • Resolve payroll issues by collecting, analyzing information, and following through with resolution

 

Minimum requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1+ years of Payroll experience
     

Preferred skills and experiences

 

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
  • Delivers strong, consistent content in both quality and service
  • Continuous improvement experience with payroll processes
  • Experience collaborating, consulting,and partnering with all levels in a team environment
  • Superior time-management skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Detail oriented, exhibiting strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment with the ability to make decisions and achieve goals
  • Will work with highly confidential information and discretion is required.
  • Proficiency in Intermediate MS Excel, Google suite (mail, sheets, docs)
