Lead Eningeer is responsible for managing and delivering HARDWARE development for Whirlpool Products. Mentoring and Monitoring team’s work. Bringing good practices for driving continuous improvement in existing processes.
 
Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Develop and validate embedded hardware applications
  • Design hardware solutions to drive system optimization, improve module/component design and enhance product reliability.
  • Interact with system architects/integrators to review and consolidate application requirements.
  • Select and integrate hardware modules to build embedded hardware applications.
  • Electronic/Electrical Circuit Model/Simulation
  • PCB Layout design, applied simulation and component selection for hardware execution.
  • Prototype assembly, bring up, debugging, and functional verification
  • Working with and managing suppliers/manufacturing partners 
  • Delivery of projects  per commitment to meet P2, P4G and Quality targets
  • Actively Participate on Technical Design Reviews to ensure Project is delivering per architecture
  • Actively Contribute on Change management in place to manage the changes to the project
  • At M6 Milestone complete the project delivery at a system level.
  • Capable of proper use of Whirlpool processes and tools.

 

Key Deliverables:

  • Embedded Hardware and Documentation (Model, Schematic, Simulation, Component list)
  • PCB Layout.
  • Requirements Review (input) and requirements capturing (Hardware)
  • Hardware project plan and management.
  • Test plan development and execution
  • Hardware modules reuse plan and integration.
  • Project KPIs (cost, quality, schedule)
  • ECM management (technical) until Pilot (connecting with procurement as needed

 

Strategy:

  •  Owner of part of the Hardware roadmap
  •  Support or Develop standard global  hardware modules
  •  Tech leader in design reviews, support trade-offs and decision making
  •  SME in some area in the Hardware team

Knowledge Management:

  • Lead technical forum within team and amongst cross technology teams to share knowledge and best practices
  • Pro-active knowledge documentation and sharing within team and amongst cross technology teams

Application of Technical tools:

  • Prepare plan and work with lab engineers to conduct physical test for V&V initiatives and continuously improve the hardware designs for accurate output
  • Expertise in application of engineering tools to verify design of assembly/reliability/manufacturability/safety in consultation with SME

Technical Mentoring and Coaching / Development:

  • Guide engineers to review and understand project requirement/physical problem/design requirement
  • Mentor engineers/team members in complex analysis tools, techniques and applications
  • Provide training to engineers in complex/advance analysis tools, techniques and applications
  • Patents/ Research / External presentations : Technical rigor for patent filing and desirable to have patents

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Education: 

Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or related field with 10 -15 years of hardware design experience

 

Technical:

  • 10+ years experience in designing embedded hardware solutions for high-volume products, from the beginning to the end
  • Proven skills in OPEX (6 sigma,), EMC and EMI theory, A3 methodology, Power supply Theory;
  • Must have great Electrical Engineering fundamentals
  • Must have hands-on experience in prototype bring-up and debugging, functional verification and manufacturing support
  • Must have experience designing high volume products from beginning to end and dealing with contract manufacturers
  • Mixed-signal and embedded board-level design experience incl. Up to 32-bit microcontrollers
    • Experience in the following areas is necessary:
      • ....Analog and Digital Logic design
      • ....Signal Integrity analysis
      • ....Power Supplies and Power management
      • ....Testability and DOEs (Design of Experiments)
      • ....system integration
      • ....processor selection
      • ....various communication protocols,
      • ....LED driving circuits.

 

Managerial:

  • Should have good communication, interpersonal, and negotiating skills
  • Should have good planning and tracking skills
  • Should possess decision-making skills, Conflicts management skills
  • Should be a team player, mentor, and coach
  • Should be a  solution provider
  • Should ensure multiple project delivery with 100%  process adherence
