This role in summary

  • This role is in the engineering group supporting manufacturing processes.
  • The primary role will be supporting and leading electrical controls projects both large and small to improve workstations, equipment, layouts, etc on the production floor.

  • Day to Day electrical controls and robotic support for production equipment.

  • This person will also be trained to be the plant’s subject matter expert (SME) over a few pieces of equipment.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Develop project teams as needed to deliver projects in their respective area
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area, ensuring unsafe conditions and actions are addressed or relayed to the proper help chain

  • Create and maintain quality/equipment standards in their respective area.

  • Perform audits as assigned and address identified gaps

  • Engage in honest, open and factual communications in a professional manner

  • Analyze and react to daily results (FPY, AY, CAL, scrap)

  • Lead WCM activities in area

  • Organize and lead cross functional teams through kaizens in their respective areas (Quick, Standard, and Major).  Present kaizens as needed.

  • Teach WCM tools to cross-functional groups.  

  • Seek out areas in need of improvement, assess root cause, and develop creative solutions.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in engineering related field (or in progress - electrical preferred)
  • Strong computer skills including data analysis and chart creation

  • Ability to work autonomously in all aspects of the function

  • Willingness to be hands on

  • Proven ability to plan, organize, prioritize issues and tasks

  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills

  • Have a strong desire for personal and professional development

  • Ability to do root cause problem solving

  • Ability to make decisions under pressure

  • Consistently demonstrates the Whirlpool Values

Preferred skills and experiences

  • 1+ year manufacturing experience
  • Allen Bradley PLC experience

  • Electrical training / experience

  • WCM (World Class Manufacturing) tool usage and knowledge

  • Drafting software (AutoCAD or equivalent)

  • Blueprint reading
