Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Maintenance Supervisor opening to join our Ottawa Operations organization. This role provides a great opportunity for a motivated individual that has a manufacturing background, exceptional leadership skills, and is able to achieve world-class performance in Safety, Quality, and Productivity. Whirlpool is looking for a proven leader for its Maintenance Team to directly supervise maintenance personnel in the repair of equipment, rearrangement of projects, construction projects, preventive maintenance programs, collection of equipment data, and implementation of WCM. Responsibilities

  • Facilitate & Orchestrate technical focus to satisfy operational objectives.
  • Contribute in the development and implementation of WPS (Whirlpool Production System) based on the WCM World Class Manufacturing model.
  • Develop and mentor technical (skill trades and engineering) resources in problem-solving tools based on the suite of WCM.
  • Provide guidance and coaching for WCM Autonomous & Professional Maintenance pillars
  • Responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations (assembly equipment, packaging, material handling, fixtures, and business processes).
  • Support cost improvement and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Provide supervisory and administrative support to a Maintenance team of up to 30 skilled trades across 3 shifts consisting of mechanical, electrical, and tooling technicians.
  • Establish labor standards, clear expectations, and drive accountability
  • Drive root cause analysis through structured diagnoses of equipment failures utilizing standard tools techniques and procedures.
  • Provide oversight to activities being completed on the shop floor with an emphasis on safety, ensure efficient time and resource management practices are being followed.
  • Use a computerized maintenance management system(s) for creation, display, track, and confirm maintenance requests.
  • Update, review, and present departmental metrics
  • Communicate information between maintenance shifts, department leadership, and to all levels of leadership.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Engineering or Operations (or lieu of an Associate's Degree, a Journeyman card with previous supervisory experience)
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience

 

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s preferred
  • 3+ years Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Good working knowledge of all aspects of Electrical construction, code requirements, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Understanding of PLC functions, applications, and their use as a troubleshooting tool
  • Experience in WCM, Lean Manufacturing Methods, Root-Cause-Problem-Solving Techniques, TPM, Reliability-Centered Maintenance, and Predictive and Preventative Maintenance
  • Read and interpret Mechanical Drawings, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Schematics, working knowledge of hydraulics, gearing, mechanical clutch and brake assemblies, welding, and fabrication.
  • Understanding of statistical data analysis as well as project management and scheduling.
  • Proficient with MS Office, and SAP (Plant Maintenance Module).
  • Effective communicator with the ability to support assembly processes 24 hours a day
  • Proven leader that can provide purpose, direction, and motivation
  • Demonstrate ability to provide an engaging work environment
  • Champion for challenging existing practices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict to a resolution
