This Role In Summary:

Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for an Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Technician position located at our Ottawa, OH manufacturing plant location.

 

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Implements and maintains company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations
  • Responsible for Gensuite training, utilization and data integrity
  • Assist with EHS Orientation
  • Provide training for OSHA required subject matter (LOTO, Confined Space, etc.)
  • Maintain EHS Training Records
  • Responsible for maintaining and implementing EHS policies and procedures as required
  • Provides pillar leadership for World Class Manufacturing as Pillar Lead or Pillar Specialist
  • Facilitates tracking of EHS data
  • Supports compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations
  • Responsible for training, leading and tracking all aspects of risk assessments pertaining to job tasks (JSRA)
  • Actively participate in team meetings & demonstrate willingness to partner closely with operations 
  • Responsible for creating and/or conducting various training presentations related to EHS and World Class Manufacturing
  • Capable of leading cross functional teams while driving results towards continual improvement of the EHS program and WCM
  • Conducts various EHS audits including but not limited to OSHA compliance, EPA compliance, internal procedure compliance, machine guarding, LOTO energy control plans and authorized employees, etc.
  • Maintain Chemical Matrix
  • Maintain approval process for new chemicals introduced into plant
  • Assist with EMAT data entry/upkeep
  • Assist with Aspect/Impact tool upkeep (updating)
  • Assist with ENV Pillar Training
  • Assist with zero waste to landfill activities
  • Update ENV Dojo
  • Complete ENV projects tied to Aspects/Impact, Chemical Matrix, and ENV CD, and present during WCM audit
  • Have overall knowledge of ENV pillar and be able to present ENV slide deck if needed

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+  years of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) experience

 

 

Preferred Skills and Experiences:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • World Class Manufacturing (WCM) experience in the Safety or Environmental Pillar(s)
  • Experience in broad problem solving
  • Previous leadership experience in an industrial environment
  • Ability to work autonomously in all aspects of the function
  • Proficient computer skills - Google Suite (Sheet, Doc, Slides and Form)
  • Consistently demonstrates the Whirlpool Values
  • Willingness to be hands on and work with employees and equipment. 
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize issues and tasks
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Have a strong desire for personal and professional development
  • Ability to work on off-shifts as needed
