This role in summary

Whirlpool is seeking qualified candidates to support the World Class Manufacturing Methodology in the North American Region (NAR) Region.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting 14 Plants (9 in the U.S. and 5 in Mexico), and advancing them in their WCM Journey. This person will have general WCM Responsibility over 5 Plants.

This person coordinates continuous improvement activities to improve operational efficiency of the NAR Region through facilitating the elimination of all forms of loss and waste. 
In this role, you will be reporting to the WCM NAR Lead and you will be part of the NAR  WCM Central Team, mainly leading and collaborating with the reactive focused pillars (Focus Improvement (FI) and Quality Control QC)) and the preventive focused pillars (Early Equipment Management (EEM) and Early Product Management (EPM)).

Your responsibilities will include

  • Support NAR Plants Pillar Leaders in the WCM Methodology application to achieve Route Map commitments, and Business Performance KPI providing guidance on methods and tools to be used to attack wastes and losses.
  • Lead and assist WCM Training efforts in educating and training Pillar and Project leaders on various WCM tools and methods, ensuring manuals and documentation are updated and available according to Plant needs.
  • Collaborate with the Cost Deployment pillars to strategize Projects, defining scope, objectives , metrics, cost, schedule and resource requirements, leveraging Project Management Tools: Compass Room
  • Maintain and upgrade PET System Modules related to focused approach pillars guaranteeing usage and roll out of new modules in the NAR Plants.
  • Collaborate with the People Development pillars to ensure WCM knowledge is growing in the plants and more complex losses can be attacked.
  • Manage the Best Practices / MPI system / Benchmark System to facilitate knowledge sharing among the region.
  • Contribute to Early Equipment Management (EEM) and Early Product Management (EPM) with “design for X” improvement ideas.
  • Lead Kaizen Activities (Kaizen Week, Global Kaizen Competitions) and Workshops to cover topics of common interest in the Region
  • Lead Internal Reviews in the Plants, identify gaps, define and monitor action plans to close gaps.
  • Contributes to development, engagement and involvement of all employees, using change management tools to achieve these goals.
  • Eliminate roadblocks to WCM progress, coordinating between plant and corporate level leadership.
  • Support Managerial Pillars understanding and diffusion.
  • Ability to Travel 50% (U.S. and Mexico)

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor Degree
  • 3+ years of WCM or Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Manufacturing Operations

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics or Industrial Technology
  • Background as WCM Coordinator, WCM Pillar Leader, Continuous Improvement Lead or Industrial Engineer
  • Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Extensive cross-functional experience
  • Project management skills
  • Proficiency with Google suite
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Fluent Spanish
