Senior Engineer, New Product Introduction

 

Function Overview:

Whirlpool is currently seeking a Senior Engineer within our Laundry New Product Introduction (NPI) organization to join the North American Region (NAR) manufacturing team.  This position will lead projects at our Manufacturing (MFG) locations based on North American product execution plans.  Please note, this position will be located in Marion, Ohio even though you will also be working with our Fall River, MA facility.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • MFG lead for all MFG requirements to support new product launches into the MFG footprint; including creation & management of project scope, schedule, budget, reviews, and deliverables  
  • MFG lead representative on project core teams 
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, consumer design, product design, quality, procurement, safety, MFG engineering/ support, and materials teams to ensure all deliverables are understood and met
  • Engineering build planning & execution between MFG and engineering teams
  • Ensure readiness of Safe Launch activity management (led by quality)
  • Plans and prepares MFG to establish the lead time of production operations to meet shipping dates
  • MFG voice input to Bill of Material (BOM) and component status
  • Facilitate factory analysis including capacity, equipment footprint, material flow/ storage, labor/cost roll-up, asset reuse, and Capital Expenditure  (CAPEX) submission
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing & office environment, walking long distances, stand on feet for long periods of time, minor lifting (generally 30lbs or less)
  • 30% travel (Domestic) 

  

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of managing new product development projects and programs with experience in manufacturing
  • 1+ years of Project Management experience
  • Experience managing project teams

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Black Belt and/or Lean Certification
  • Experience in leading project teams from inception through completion with direct responsibility for the execution of vertical start-up
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Whirlpool Product Development (WPD) processes
  • Understanding and practical application of fundamental quality tools & statistics used for problem-solving
  • Experience in applying technical knowledge to solve a range of problems
  • PC proficient in Google and SmartSheets
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
