Senior Engineer, Machine Controls and PLC Systems Lead


Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Engineer, Machine Controls and PLC Systems Lead to join our Marion, Ohio manufacturing operations. 


Function Overview:


The Machine Controls and PLC Systems Lead is responsible for all aspects of the Machine and PLC Controls for the entire Marion facility. They will lead a team of engineers and technicians who support the daily operations of the Whirlpool Marion manufacturing site. This individual works directly with the other plant teams and contract work force as necessary to ensure continuity of operations at the plant and drive continuous improvement for machine functionality and efficiency.

The Controls, Automation, and Testing group at Whirlpool Marion is a highly technical and talented staff that supports existing machine control systems and applies new technology to high volume manufacturing. This group has responsibility for functions including robotic integration, autonomous product testing, machine PLC systems including Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisition.


Minimum Requirements:


•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Technology
•    5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
•    Experience creating and modifying Allen Bradley PLC Machine Controls (Logix 5000, SLC 500, Panelview HMI) with all auxiliary equipment (servos, ethernet I/P, robotics)
•    Experience integrating PLC controlled manufacturing equipment
•    3+ years of Project Management and Team Leadership experience


Preferred Requirements:


•    Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Technology
•    Experience with leading a controls department (plant architecture, program management, obsolescence mitigation, budget management)
•    Safety training/certification (TUV Rheinland, OSHA, ANSI) relating to industrial machinery
•    Industrial Maintenance background (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical)
•    Experience with Rexroth servo products
•    Experience with metal stamping press control systems
•    Knowledge of Robotic programming (Fanuc, UR, Yaskawa)
•    Networking experience (Stratix, Cisco, Wireless Access Points, Web Server, SQL server)
•    Experience in Autocad Electrical
