The area of Control Systems / Model Based Design is responsible for the development of control algorithms, rapid control prototyping, virtual systems and multiphysics modeling and simulation Electronic systems.

Role and Challenges of the function

This role is within the Model Based Design Organization (MBD). The engineer will focus on the development of Model Based Design Technical assets, more specifically in the area of Virtual Systems Design and Simulation. More specifically, the engineer will be responsible for thermal design, analysis and simulation of a diverse set of components (Control Boards, Components, Coils, Motors, etc),using tools like CFD simulation (Ansys Fluent and Icepak) and 1D modeling with Modelica. The engineer will also be the focal point in the region for the EESI - MBD partnerships with Federal University of Santa Catarina for thermal design.
It's a very challenging scope, with a heavy technical content on design, analysis and simulation, supporting projects globaly, and engaging with several organizations (ex. Model Based Design-Control Systems, Hardware, Components)

Function activities

  • Electrical Systems thermal modeling and simulation (ex. Induction Coils, Motors, Components, Control Boards), using CFD and Thermal Network approaches.
  • Plant model development of Thermal Systems to be Integrated with MBD simulation architectures. (using modelica)
  • Build thermal estimators for our control systems organization.
  • Working side by side with the Control Boards organization to bridge MBD tools in the area of thermal management and integrate those in the workflow of HW design (ex. Thermal stack up analysis);
  • Provide High Fidelity CFD simulation (Icepak and Fluent) to help design of boards and HMIs.
  • Be the focal point on day to day activities related to partnerships in between MBD and universities in Brazil for thermal modeling and Simulation.
  • Availability for national and international travels when required.
