Description

This Group Leader role will manage the day to day needs of the 2nd shift Assembly group. The Group lead is responsible for manpower movement, daily payroll upkeep, production schedule, tracking metrics as well as problem solving functions. You will learn and be responsible for managing associates in order to support daily safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.

What you will do:

  • Lead 2nd shift to achieve safety, quality and cost targets.

  • Conduct audits in your area of responsibility for 5S, quality, and Standard work.

  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment

  • Drive OEE and performance on the shift

  • Oversee KRONOS for hourly associates.

  • Schedule manpower for the shift.

  • Participate in lean focus effort and problem solving activities.

  • Lead or assist in projects to improve safety, quality, and/ or cost metrics.

  • Work across departments within 2nd shift to meet schedules and accomplish plant wide goals.

  • Monitor and measure key indicators of departmental performance.

  • Communicate effectively with associates, peers and division leadership to effectively manage the department.

  • Demonstrate Whirlpool Values and a Spirit of Winning.

Requirements for this Role:

  • Prior and during work assignment, trainee will be required to attend training in the following areas:

    • KRONOS

    • Quality Systems

    • Employee Policies & Procedures

    • Safety

    • Standardized Work

    • 5S

    • Problem Solving

  • Must be flexible to support multiple areas throughout the plant.

  • Confidentiality is mandatory

    • Trainee is expected to engage in honest, open and factual communications in a professional manner.

What you need to succeed:

  • Must be highly motivated with excellent organizational skills and leadership behaviors.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing assembly operations desired and ability to learn company philosophy, division policies and procedures.

  • Good communication skills, verbal and written are essential.

  • Use and understand applications of various communication technologies; PC, Windows; Word; Excel; phone, fax, Gmail, etc.

  • Ability to read, write, make oral presentations and communicate clearly to all levels of the organization.
