This Role in Summary 

Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates to fill an opening as a 3rd shift Machine Shop Production Supervisor within the Greenville Operations team.

As supervisor the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the efforts of production associates to achieve established safety, quality, delivery, cost, and production objectives in the department. You also will be responsible for all labor, payroll, hourly evaluation, and employee issue resolution activities within your department. Duties include coordinating all activities to achieve business metrics and to implement World Class Manufacturing (WCM) processes in coordination with other WCM Plant Pillars. This includes a strong focus on 5S initiatives, and ensuring standard work is being performed on a daily basis in your area/shift.  In addition, you will be assigned additional projects in your area of responsibility as well as support projects that are led by others in your department.

Your Responsibilities Will Include  

  • Lead your area to achieve safety, quality, and cost targets 
  • Meet financial and productivity goals
  • Conduct audits in your area of responsibility for 5S, quality, and standardized work
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment. 
  • Drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and daily performance on the shift
  • Oversee and audit KRONOS for hourly associates.
  • Schedule manpower for the shift
  • Support all WCM initiatives through participation in focused area improvement activities to create a continuous improvement culture with all production workers
  • Complete administrative paperwork (various reports for safety, HR, payroll, attendance, vacation, etc.)
  • Participate in problem solving activities
  • Utilization and deployment of WCM systematic approaches within model areas 
  • Lead or assist in projects to improve safety, quality, and/or cost metrics.
  • Work in a cross functional environment with other departments to maintain equipment, meet schedules and to accomplish department goals.
  • Monitor and measure key indicators of department performance. 
  • Communicate effectively with associates, peers and division leadership to effectively manage the department
  • Demonstrate Whirlpool Values and a Spirit of Winning
  • Manage employee issue resolution activities within your department
  • Must be flexible to move across shifts if needed

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+  years of experience in people leader role in a manufacturing environment

 

Preferred Skills and Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • World Class Manufacturing (WCM) environment experience  preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple activities across area of responsibility
  • Willingness and ability to build knowledge in Whirlpool Production System and World Class Manufacturing methodology
  • Ability to collaborate with teams across business areas
  • Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills
  • Be able to lead cross functional activities such as Focused Improvement and Quality Kaizens, Safety investigations, and WCM activities
  • Strong ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks as well as set expectations for the leaders that are reporting to you
  • Be able to resolve conflict in a respectful, confidential manner 
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communications skills that are carried out in an honest, open, factual, and professional manner
  • Be proficient with key computer programs such as Word, Excel, Google, SAP, KRONOS
