Primary Function

  • First responder to all assembly line quality issues.

 

General Quality Responsibilities

  • All employees are responsible for the quality of their work.  If quality standards or expectations cannot be met, the employee responsible for the work is required to notify the supervisor of that area immediately

 

Tools & Equipment

  • "Gloves, protective sleeves, hand tools, charts, fixtures, and ability to use process equipment. Desktop PC, network workstation, software applications including Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Google, QC Calc, etc. calculator, burden vehicle, towmotor/butterfly, hand trucks, weigh count scales, small hand tools, calipers, various testing equipment, and various measuring instruments.  Must be able to read blueprints and material layouts. Global Vault, (EN, Drawings, BOM), G-CAR, 1x1 Problem Solving, 8D, Hold Order, etc. Measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, surface plate, height gauges, optical comparator, chatillon gages, etc. (Metrology Lab).

Requires previous work experience on an assembly line, in addition to the job training to identify a variety of parts, function, and associated defects.

 

Material

  • All types of product and component materials, like wiring harnesses, wiring diagrams, plastic components and subassemblies, electromechanical components, control circuit boards, wiring diagrams, electronics, solid state temperature measuring devices, motors, metal components and painted parts, etc.  Production parts and supplies, finished product, various reporting forms. Any materials needed to repair or build manufacturing assemblies.

 

Training/Licensing Requirements

  • PVO license,  print locations, Checksheet/mini bill system, SAP, Problem solving.

  • Any other training deemed necessary.

  • Ability to read blueprints and material layouts.

 

Essential Functions

  • Requires the ability to use shop mathematics, adjustable measuring devices, complicated drawings, or specialized training.

  • Requires the ability to plan and perform work when the details are not spelled out, but which fall within recognized methods.  Use above average amount of judgment and initiative.

  • Requires little physical effort.  Continuous lifting or material up to 1 pound or frequent lifting up to 5 lbs., or occasional lifting of 5 - 35 lbs.

  • Requires continual attention of a normal degree, or concentrated attention for brief periods.

  • Requires reasonable care at least 25% of the work day to prevent injuries to others, such as burns, cuts, or bruises of minor nature.

  • Requires intermittent, but regular, instruction of other people, or assigning and coordinating their work.

  • Normal shop conditions.  some disagreeable elements present, but not the  extent of being objectionable to the normal industrial employee.

  • Working Procedure

  • Will work under direct supervision of the Quality Engineers.  

  • Review data daily, identify and solve problems (example: line metrics, Part measurements QCCalc).

  • Must demonstrate knowledge of products to identify failure modes and root cause.

  • Perform part measurements, layouts, and interpret data from the use of charts and graphs.  

  • Read and interpret drawings and compare to actual part measurements.

  • Complete part swap and/or tear down of units to find root cause.

  • Communicate with all levels of the organization and exhibit good planning and multitasking skills.

  • Conduct quality line audits and keep accurate records, respond as needed.

  • Act as resource for assembly by being familiar with all the assembly parts and assembly processes.

  • Update and maintain control plans as well as SOP/WKI.

  • Create and communicate quality alerts.

  • Follow, record and react to pilots and trials.

  • Complete special assignments as assigned.

  • Must work the required number of hours as determined by department, shift and position.

  • Uses all designated safety equipment, observes all safety rules, and follows recognized rules of safe practice.  Maintains good housekeeping, keeps area and equipment clean.

  • Performs duties of a similar or lesser skill to facilitate the flow of work in the department.
