Maintenance Supervisor


This role in summary

We are seeking qualified candidates for a Shift Supervisor opening to join our Findlay Operations organization. This role provides a great opportunity for a motivated individual that has a manufacturing background, exceptional leadership skills, and is able to achieve world-class performance in Safety, Quality, and Productivity. 

The Maintenance Shift Supervisor will directly supervise maintenance personnel in the repair of equipment, rearrangement of projects, construction projects, and preventive maintenance programs. Your responsibilities will include

  • For this role, we will be looking for a high-performance candidate with experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Lead WCM (World Class Manufacturing) activities including Training and implementation of PM (Preventive Maintenance) Pillar requirements.
  • Lead and Support safety related activities and annual safety training for the department.
  • Escalate Breakdowns to Engineering or external suppliers as needed.
  • Responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations (assembly equipment, packaging, material handling, fixtures, and business processes.
  • Perform Lean project work, and implement WCM methodology throughout the area of responsibility.
  • Support cost improvement and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Establish labor standards, clear expectations, and drive accountability.
  • Drive root cause analysis through structured diagnoses of equipment failures.
  • Provide oversight to projects being completed on the shop floor with an emphasis on safety. Ensure efficient time and resource management practices are being followed, and effectively dispatch craftsmen to resolve emergency calls for Reactionary Maintenance.
  • Use a computerized maintenance management system for creation, display, track, and confirm maintenance requests.
  • Update, review, and present departmental metrics.
  • Lead and promote the use of Kaizen activities
  • Support Apprenticeship program and perform 6 month evaluations
  • Communicate information between maintenance shifts, department leadership, and to all levels of management 
  • This sub-function is responsible for undertaking production activities to transform tangible inputs (e.g. raw materials or semi-finished goods) or intangible inputs (e.g. ideas, information, know-how) into finished products or services.
  • May be involved in setting up, calibrating, and operating machines and equipment, supervision of arrangements, monitoring resources, following production schedules and quality standards, monitoring production processes, and troubleshooting production problems.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree  
    • 3+ years of experience in Manufacturing Maintenance
    • 1+ years of people leadership experience
  • In lieu of Bachelor Degree
    • Associates degree in technology or Journeyman's card
    • 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Maintenance
    • 2+ years of people leadership experience


Preferred skills and experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business Administration  ​​​​​​​
  • Ability to interpret and use the following for troubleshooting purposes: piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment drawings, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics.
  • Understanding of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) functions, applications, and their use as a troubleshooting tool.
  • Understanding of statistical data analysis as well as project management and scheduling
  • World Class Manufacturing (WCM) experience or other continuous improvement program experience.
  • Proficient with Google Suite, AutoCAD, Kronos,  and SAP (Plant Maintenance Module)
  • Effective communicator with the ability to support assembly processes 24 hours a day
  • Proven leader that can provide purpose, direction, and motivation.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide an engaging work environment.
  • Champion for challenging existing practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict to a resolution
