Whirlpool is looking for qualified candidates for a Manufacturing Production Supervisor opening to join our NAR (North American Region) Operations / Manufacturing - 2nd shift organization. This role will be located at our Cleveland, TN location.


This Role In Summary: 

Reporting to the Manager of Assembly Operations, the second shift Assembly Supervisor will manage Premium cooking product assembly operations. This position ensures that all daily activities for a team of 60+ employees are customer-focused and performed in a man key leadership position that directs and is responsible for the consistent achievement of the plant vision, goals, and objectives. This position is a key decision-maker and escalation point for Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People issues or decisions.  You will collaborate with engineering resources and other support functions (materials, maintenance, quality, finance, etc) on short and long-term improvements to the production line.


Your Responsibilities Will Include: 

  • Direct activities for a team that includes an hourly Production Leader, Group Leaders, and Assembly Associates. 
  • Coordinate production activities with support functions including Quality, Materials/Logistics, Safety, and Maintenance. 
  • Onboard new team members utilizing Whirlpool best practices in new hire training and development. 
  • Initiate  safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale improvements within the Assembly operations utilizing World Class Manufacturing tools and principles 
  • Kaizens - Apply critical thinking and root cause analysis tools and prescribed  documentation methods to identify defects, develop countermeasures, and
  • solve problems.
  • Systematic Pillar Expansions in Workplace Organization, Autonomous Maintenance, and Safety following a 7 step methodology.
  • Vigilant enforcement of our safety protocol and policy. Given our ever-changing environment, quickly emplace changes to maximize the safety of the team. 
  • Utilize Whirlpool’s leadership development toolbox to continue personal development to open career growth opportunities for self and team.
  • Timely communications of operations information to all levels of the organization to assure fluid operations and hand-offs from shift to shift.
  • Provide an integral link in the help chain between leadership and team members as well as to upstream and downstream customers. 
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate employees
  • Ability to work primarily between the hours of 4 pm-4 am M- F with the flexibility to work other times as needed


Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations or Industrial Technology
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience
  • 1+ years in a supervisory role


Preferred Skills and Experiences:


  • Formal Lean manufacturing experience
  • Leadership experience in high volume mixed-model assembly operations
  • Manufacturing Supervision of large hourly teams
  • Excellent planning and leadership skills with the ability to lead small projects
  • Excellent communication skills to provide key and timely operations information to all levels of the organization to assure fluid operations from shift to shift.
  • Thorough knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (KAIZEN) tools, with the ability to apply them to establish robust manufacturing processes
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, solid decision-making, and judgment skills 
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, organized, and the ability to think outside the box to accomplish goals
  • PC proficient, experience in Google Suites, SAP, KRONOS
