FUNCTION OVERVIEW:

The Engineer, Cavity Value Stream will be responsible for providing complete Engineering and Technical coverage and support by developing, maintaining, and improving all processes associated with the Specialty Value Stream Assembly area at the Cleveland, TN Premium Cooking Plant.  The area includes multiple Cooktop assembly lines, Warming Drawers, Dedicated Microwave line and a Commercial Oven line.  The area also has several Automated processes, Manual Sub-Assemblies and End of the line Test systems. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide daily assembly Process Engineering and project management leadership and support in a fast-paced production environment.  Processes include mainly manual assembly operations with automated equipment and assembly systems.  A few of the responsibilities include:

  • Specify / Purchase new assembly equipment, tooling, and fixtures as well as implementing them into production as required
  • Work with cross functional teams to provide process optimization, root cause problem solving, and resolution for quality and process capability issues
  • Ensure all engineering tasks are on budget, on time and meet project scope of work
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects
  • Participating / Leading implementation of Day-to-Day Cost Savings Projects
  • Interpret plans, drawings, prints and specifications
  • Travel up to 15% to meet with equipment suppliers and other Whirlpool facilities
  • Lift to 40 pounds, stoop, kneel, squat and stand for long periods of time.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Technology
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Manufacturing experience with 2+ years in an assembly environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Project Management skills
  • Manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Interpersonal and team-building skills with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Communications skills (Ability to communicate at all levels from Plant Leadership to Operator)
  • Design experience with fixtures, jigs and assembly tools
  • World Class Manufacturing (WCM) knowledge
