Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Director of Engineering opening to join our Cleveland Manufacturing organization. Overall the Director of Engineering will be responsible for leading all facets of Engineering and Manufacturing Services, while providing technical direction in problem solving while developing a strong understanding of appliance operations. 

 

In this position, you will:

  • Perform engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments. 

  • Design and scales up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment and tests manufactured products to maintain quality. 

  • Plan, design, and estimate time and cost, while overseeing structures, facilities, systems and components. 

  • Analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures.

  • Discover, develop and evaluate new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. 

  • Lead, plan and track all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.

  • Identify/define/solve impactful direction of business and lead multi-disciplinary initiatives.

  • Influence functional strategy and execute departmental business plans.

  • Monitor expenditures and forecasting resource inputs; while also operating, monitoring and maintaining machines and production equipment.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical, industrial, Electrical, Electronics, or other related discipline

  • 10+ years of engineering experience

 

Preferred Requirements

  • (Operational Excellence) OpEx certification a plus but not required

  • Solid understanding of (Problem Solving Method) 8D, (Project Summary Report) A3 and (General Problem Solving) 1X1 problem solving tools

  • Firsthand knowledge of (Customer to Customer) C2C/ (Advanced Product Quality Planning) APQP, (First Parts Approval) FPA/ (Production Part Approval Process) PPAP, (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) FMEA, (Measurement System Evaluation) MSE, process control, and control plans Ontrac knowledge

  • Six Sigma, Kaizen, (World Class Manufacturing) WCM

  • Excellent interpersonal skills required

  • Proven ability to create and lead cross functional teams to resolve issues and deliver results
