Functional Overview:
Whirlpool Corporation is seeking a Creative Strategist for an exciting and first of its kind new division: WoW Studios. Tasked with innovating the consumer experience and building the future of marketing at Whirlpool, WoW Studios is the next generation of in-house advertising, storytelling and experience agency. With deep support from executive leadership, armed with the latest digital marketing tools, and award-winning creative and experience talent, our goal is nothing short of super-charging Whirlpool Corporation through investing in creativity and improving consumers’ lives inside millions of homes.

Leading the work for iconic brands like JennAir, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana and more, this highly visible, business-critical division will be heavily invested in increasing the total output of campaigns, content, analytics, design, experiences, digital tools and service innovations. At the edge of the Chicago Riverwalk, WOW Studio’s North American headquarters is located in the historic Reid Murdoch Building

In this role, you will work closely with the WOW Studios cross-functional team of Creative, Social, Experience and Connections Strategy experts, unified by a shared ambition to drive delight throughout the customer journey while driving the business. The Creative Strategist will help uncover revealing customer insights, provoke innovative creative ideas, and inspire teams to create breakthrough communications approaches. 

Your responsibilities will include

  • Participate in research and listening methodologies to uncover relevant, breakthrough customer insights
  • Develop deep insights around an audience, brand, category or culture that inspire
  • Partner with our cutting-edge primary researchers, internal analysis group and client data/research organizations to maximize their work’s customer insights
  • Understand consumers’ attitudes and behaviors that can unlock creative opportunities
  • Translate existing customer insights into relevant marketing program implications
  • Lead team brainstorms that efficiently produce breakthrough insights
  • Identify relevant marketing program implications and drive insight into the company new business process
  • Apply the ProjectX  approach to marketing program development
  • Create demand for CX Strategy’s contribution by demonstrating its impact

Minimum requirements

  • Four year degree
  • 3+ years of experience in marketing and/or strategic services organizations such as an advertising agency account planning department, brand consultancy, or large strategic planning group
  • Understanding of research and creative strategy from work experience or education

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Qualitative research expertise applying innovative qualitative research techniques
  • Familiarity with interpreting and applying quantitative research
  • Ability to discern customer insight and “human truth” from large data sets
  • Passion and empathy for the customer’s perspective
  • Ability to challenge the team to uncover “what’s in it for the customer”
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Ability to quickly gain the trust of partners and internal team members at all levels
  • Champion creative storytelling that moves people to action
