Function Overview

The Engineer will be part of the Energy Actuator Subsystems. The engineer will be responsible for electrical components design for all cooking appliances (wall ovens, freestanding ranges, cooktops, microwaves, hoods) and the control side of energy delivery to the food (controls engineering).

The engineer will be also responsible for globally supporting plants as a subject matter expert of electrical components.

The Engineer will manage multiple project schedules to ensure timely execution and delivery of product design.

As part of the cooking subsystem, the engineer will be exposed to a product level scope and will be involved in multiple cross functional activities. 

The engineer will be part of a global team.


Job Responsibilities

  • Develop complex subsystem for Engineering projects related to cooking appliances
  • Be responsible for electrical components as GMO (global module owner)
  • Support cost and quality teams as subject matter expert of electrical components
  • Work closely with the Electrical and Electronics Subsystem to develop appliance control boards algorithms and functionalities
  • Be able to configure cooking appliances by editing setting files
  • Build knowledge and actively contribute to innovation pipeline, supporting also the intellectual property workstream
  • Apply Whirlpool Development Process for the whole product lifecycle
  • Apply Systems Engineering to product development
  • Apply 6 sigma approach and tools to product design
  • Leverage strong collaboration with other teams (e.g. mechanical, food scientists, electronics) and cross functional project partners (procurement, marketing, manufacturing) during project development
  • integration in product systems through prototypes, laboratory tests activities, following internal and regional normative standards



  • Master’s Degree in Automation Engineering or Electronics Engineering or equivalent 
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Proficient in English
  • Main control system design methods
  • AC/DC motors and other actuators 
  • Electrical\electronic schematics interpretation
  • Control algorithms implementation 
  • Matlab, Simulink
  • Basics programming languages (C, Python preferred)
  • G Suite
  • Good communication skills
  • Good project management skills
  • Critical thinking
  • Proactive
