Direct Material Analyst

 

Function Overview:

The Direct Material Analyst will support specific commodities in Whirlpool to achieve the team’s target during the year. They will support purchasing and supply management activities in achieving the goal of significant cost reductions, by providing key supporting analytics, e.g., detailed spend and concentration analysis, Linear Price Performance (LPP), etc. The Direct Material Analyst will work closely with a consolidated analyst group as well as the Category and Commodity Managers and buyers. They will also conduct research on economic trends in key supply markets and analyze spend data. The Analyst’s primary responsibility is to support sourcing professionals in reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) by conducting analyses on spend and market data and researching trends in relevant supply markets.

 

Job Responsibilities:

In this role you will have global support, which means you will work with people out of all Whirlpool regions; North America, South America, Europe, India, and China.

  • Assists in spend data analysis and basic financial analysis
  • Works together with Commodity Managers and buyers, on a project basis, in select projects involving spend data analysis and some financial analysis
  • Other key analysis include: Spend breakdown and matrix by supplier and sub-commodity
  • Assists in bid analytics during Request for Price (RFP) events and develops sourcing scenarios
  • Analysis of bids received including adjustments for raw material differences (settlements), freight costs, service level normalization, etc.
  • Evaluation of best price and best cost scenarios and potential award scenarios
  • Prepare fact-based data for commodity teams to use in negotiations Linear Price Performance (LPP, bid analytics, etc.)
  • Conduct Linear Price Performance (LPP) analytics including identification and capture of the core set of Linear Price Performance (LPP) metrics with the buyer
  • Monthly Forecasting
  • Analyze external data and industry trends to understand the impact to the teams you support (Raw Materials, FX, general market info, etc.)
  • Track Key Performance Metrics
  • Track Global Spend Data
  • Actively manage project lists and assist commodity management in driving the execution of their projects

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance or Business
  • 1+ years of Project Management experience
  • 1+ years of Data Analysis experience

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Comfort with analytics; ability to analyze and communicate that analysis effectively to business partners
  • Ability to synthesize information from diverse sources and present findings in a clear, concise fashion
  • Ability and comfortability working across multiple regions and time zones
  • Familiarity with purchasing and supply chain management
