Manager, Organization/Talent Development 



Functional Overview


Whirlpool is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Manager of Talent Development for our Benton Harbor, MI location.  This position is a critical member of the Global Talent Community of Expertise. You will work closely with the Global Learning & Development Sr. Manager and Sr. Director in defining solutions that meet the needs of our employees, while ensuring alignment with the intended business outcomes. 


This position provides you with the opportunity to work with a diverse group of individuals, both internal and external to Whirlpool Corporation and across the globe. This is an exciting time to join the Whirlpool HR organization in the Learning & Development practice area, as we are focusing on becoming a learning organization and much of our story has yet to be written.


Also, this position offers you the opportunity to partner closely with key stakeholders in developing innovative learning solutions that contribute to the goals of the organization and help Whirlpool Corporation’s employees achieve their full potential. The focus will be on delivering excellence and innovations that meet the needs of the modern learner, upskilling the workforce and contributing to Whirlpool becoming a learning organization.



Job Responsibilities

         Work globally and across multiple functions to lead, contribute and/or oversee the following areas: 

  • Strategic advisor: Serve as a credible and trusted advisor to stakeholders on effective and leading-edge learning and development strategies to achieve business goals 
  • Learning Programs and Process Design: Design programs and processes that both smooth the onboarding process for new employees and also support the development of managers and expand their leadership capabilities, e.g., coaching, mentoring, and career and development planning
  • Leverage Digital technology for learning curation: Use a blended learning methodology to roll out continuous digital learning plans and pathways that support new, agile ways of working and just-in-time development
  • Needs assessment: Through data and analytics, aligned with business imperatives, determine critical development needs to achieve desired outcomes 
  • Solution design: Design innovative solutions to improve performance and engage the modern learner; appropriately leverage and manage internal and/or external resources, best practices, innovations, and technologies 
  • Collaboration: Actively partner with colleagues across the globe to ensure an aligned learning experience across the regions and functions
  • Communications: Guide, develop and deliver creative communication campaigns to communicate value and engage learners 
  • Continuous improvement: Use evaluation data to measure impact and improve learning programs and processes and continuously assess delivery process improvement opportunities. Challenge the status quo to drive improved outcomes 


Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree 
  • 5+ years of Learning & Development experience in 3 or more of the following areas: Learning strategy, Learning organizational design, Innovative learning solutions, Learning process design, Learning curriculum design, Learning delivery strategy, Learning metrics & analytics, Learning IT landscape, Learning assessment and/ or Design thinking or human-centered design
  • Experience with project management, end-to-end projects, manage and influence multiple stakeholders to achieve the desired outcomes.



Preferred Requirements


  • Master’s degree preferred (MBA, Learning & Development, Organization Development, or related HR practice) 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to synthesize information into clear, concise messages in a compelling manner to internal stakeholders 
  • Experience working in a global role.
