The team you will be a part of:

The Security and Loss Prevention team protects the organization's employees, properties and all items of value on premises from any preventable harm or danger. Develops security policies and procedures that comply with government guidelines and standards. Conducts investigations to protect organization assets. The Sr. Manager, North America Region, Global Security,  reports to the Global Director, Global Security on the Global Security Team (NAR, LAR, EMEA, and ASIA).The position involves internal collaboration with peer regional security managers, as well as Legal, Internal Audit, Human Resources, Procurement, Manufacturing, Environment, Health, and Safety, Real Estate, Global Information Systems, Cyber Security, Corporate Communications, and other business unit leaders.  Externally, the position involves collaboration with security service providers, peers at other organizations, law enforcement, and other government agencies. 

This role in summary:

The Senior Manager of Global Security for North America will drive value for Whirlpool as a regional security risk management professional accountable for designing and deploying cost‐effective solutions for safeguarding people, property, information, and processes.

Today, you might design and deploy the most cost-efficient and effective combination of security technologies and guard services to safeguard a factory, warehouse, technology center or office complex. Tomorrow, you could lead a cross functional team to investigate a fraud scheme impacting regional business unit profitability, deliver security awareness training to a group of employees, respond to a law enforcement assistance request, or brief senior leaders about a rapidly-evolving risk and its potential impact upon business operations.  The broad scope of duties associated with this position demands a proactive, experienced generalist who is effective at the tactical and operational levels and, when required, strategic-level leadership. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Security Strategy ‐ Partnering with other departments, your colleagues in Global Security, and citing industry best practices and standards, you will continuously improve all governance products for which the department is responsible. This includes, but is not limited to, products related to department, operations, and technical standards, crisis management, workplace violence prevention, travel and executive security, global and regional security operations centers, and investigations awareness, procedures, and training.
  • Personnel & Physical Security ‐ Partner with Real Estate, HR, Procurement, EH&S,  Corporate Communications, vendors and others to provide a safe workplace using the best value mix of personnel and technology.
  • Threat Assessment and Risk Management – Drive value to regional business unit operations by utilizing threat assessment methodologies to quantify risk and prioritize mitigation funding initiatives.  Provide pragmatic recommendations to lower risk using controls which are aligned with business processes and risk. Collect, analyze, and redistribute intelligence to proactively prepare for and prevent near-miss and loss events. 
  • Crisis Management - Partner with Corporate Communications, EH&S, and HR to train our employees to identify and report emergencies and crises. Serve as a functional expert on the regional crisis management team.  
  • Information Security – Partner with Cyber Security and IT to ensure physical safeguarding of data centers and other critical, sensitive areas, craft and deliver security awareness programming, and manage investigations related to near-miss and loss events. 
  • Loss Prevention – Partner with Legal, Internal Audit, HR, law enforcement, and others to safeguard business interests and investigate violations of law, regulation or policy.  
  • Business Continuity ‐ Partner with Procurement, EH&S, Risk Management and business leaders to minimize risk from extreme weather, natural disasters, and/or human-caused events. Ensure effective emergency response.   
  • Compliance Strategy – Partner with Compliance, Legal, HR, Internal Audit, and other regional ethics and compliance program team members in program deployment. This includes conducting security audits, development and delivery of regular reports, assisting in hotline reports, and/or other confidential sources.   
  • Process Improvement – Optimize sizable regional business investments in security technology and contract guard labor by leveraging disciplined procurement strategies that maximize economies of scale, standardized procedures, and strategic supplier relationships.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in security or risk management, business, or criminal justice-related fields.
  • Technical knowledge of risk assessment methodology and/or security mitigation strategies, law enforcement protocols and investigation techniques. Working knowledge of common video management, access control, and intrusion detection technologies.
  •  Knowledge and typically 10 or more years of leadership experience managing security operations and/or law enforcement matters for a large corporation, governmental entity or organization.
  • Native fluency in English is critical. Exceptional interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required as there will be regular interface with leaders and colleagues at all levels. You will be an evangelist for the department.

Preferred skills and experiences:

  • Masters degree in security or risk management, business, or criminal justice-related fields. Certifications such as the CPP, PSP, CEM, CFE, and/or CISM.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience - Regional and local contract security services will directly or indirectly report to this position and cross-functional task forces will look to this person for guidance.
  • Analytical Skills – An open‐minded and unbiased approach to inquiries involving complex problems is essential. Creative, unconventional thinking is often necessary.    
  • Language proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus.

**Employees in this role can work a hybrid schedule of 3 days on-site and 2 days remote. This enables employees to come together to collaborate in-person and gives employees the added flexibility to work remotely.
