Function Overview

We currently have an opening for a Senior Industrial Designer at our Benton Harbor, MI corporate headquarters.  You will be part of the Whirlpool’s Global Consumer Design group (GCD) where we start with a passion to create desire.  Because you love your home, we love the home. People take pride in their home and they want to furnish it with lovable, comfortable, and desirable things.  Home is where our heart is. At GCD, you’ll work on functional furniture that consumers use every day of their life.

We believe in creating experiences that brighten the quality of everyday life. We believe products should seamlessly blend into people's lives and reflect the warmth and beauty of their homes. We believe that products should adapt to the way people live and communicate, not the other way around.  Our mission is to continue building meaningful relationships with consumers through our brand experiences while creating products that people love.

As a Senior Industrial Designer at Whirlpool, you will conceptualize and develop new products and design strategies that create a desire for our product and brand experiences.  In this role, you will create aspects of form, aesthetics, Color, Materials, Finish (CMF), and user interfaces. You will work with, and occasionally lead, global cross-disciplinary GCD teams and process partners such as engineering, marketing, and sales.

Our global design studios include a broad cross-section of design disciplines.  Studios are located in the U.S., Mexico, Brazil, Italy, India, and China. Travel will be a part of understanding our global homes. We have world-class design disciplinary groups in Industrial Design, Graphic Design, User Experience, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Whirlpool has big plans for the future, just like you. We understand that it takes preparation and hard work to get there. So, we offer creative purpose, ownership of your role, great teams, and tools to build your capability. In a large global design studio for the Kitchen, the Laundry room, and Small Domestic Appliances, there are many opportunities for growth, development, and new experiences. Help us leave behind the functional box, and move to experiences that truly inspire a connection to people and their individual passions and needs!
