This role in summary

This is a fast-paced role within the North America Region (NAR) Commercial Finance organization with several developmental opportunities, such as leading key projects, influencing a wide range of business functions and making decisions autonomously. The role supports the Retail & Builder Sales Channel team from a financial support and advisory perspective, and requires the incumbent to be agile, focused and adaptable. The role will also provide opportunities to shape and influence the sales strategy and financial acumen of several business partners, and learn about Whirlpool’s commercial strategy and performance metrics.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Work closely & directly with assigned portfolio of sales regions as the Finance Lead on a wide range of workstreams, mainly planning, reporting, program management, and financial advisory
  • Perform monthly analysis to help Sales business partners understand and drive results, KPIs and key objectives from a financial perspective
  • Assist account managers in structuring their annual and in-year allowance programs in line with corporate objectives and long term value creation strategy for their respective accounts
  • Raise P&L awareness and financial literacy of Sales business partners by conducting education sessions as needed to ensure all stakeholders understand and drive financial outcomes aligned with the enterprise objectives (EBIT & Free Cash Flow).
  • Lead monthly Top Accounts meetings to drive visibility of key performance drivers and collaboration between Sales and Finance, especially forecasting through Ledgers
  • Lead month-end close process as it relates to regional portfolio, including but not limited to agreement close-outs, accrual add/subtracts and rectifying program rules to meet compliance
  • Perform Month End Close activities in compliance with accounting principles and policies (GAAP)
  • Play an active role towards one or more of Retail & Builder Finance Key Workstreams (Volume Rebates, Merch Funds, Annual Programming, Forecasting, Profit Plan, or others)
  • Play an active role in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities, including but not limited to documenting current state, identifying future improvement opportunities and executing projects
  • Collaborate with key business partners across Finance, Sales Operations, Merchandising and Sales to drive greater alignment between Sales activities and corporate directives as it relates to promotions

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting,  Finance or Business 
  • 3+ years experience in Finance or Accounting

Preferred skills and experiences

  • MBA
  • Strong Verbal, written communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Professional presence and proven ability to lead teams and influence decision-making
  • Ability to interact & collaborate with all levels of the organization as well as cross-functionally
  • Achievement oriented with the ability to work autonomously and make daily decisions
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • System proficiency: SAP, BPC, Access, Business Objects, ERP system, BW, Tableau
  • System proficiency: Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and google tools (sheets & slides)

Employees in this role can work a hybrid schedule of three core days in office and two days remote. This enables employees to come together to collaborate in-person and gives employees the added flexibility to work remotely.
