This role in summary


Whirlpool is currently seeking a qualified candidate for an Plastics, Engineering. This position is located at our Research site in Benton Harbor, MI. The purpose of this role is to lead, support & execute cost, quality and innovation projects in the field of resins, knowledge creation/capture, support stakeholders on resins selections for existing and new applications.

Your responsibilities will include


•    Interact and collaborate with Materials integration engineers in the definition of proper resins for each new launch project in EMEA or global.  
•    Lead, support & execute resins development projects, both technical and commercial in accordance with Whirlpool's internal methodology and deliverables, and in cooperation with stakeholders. 
•    Contribute to feed our resins innovation pipeline by executing tech scouting activities.
•    Engage the supply base on projects execution, ideas generation for cost and innovation.
•    Creation of specifications and test procedures when requested for any new development. 
•    Execute training to materials engineers and others in the company according to needs.
•    Drive reuse of knowledge and materials across platforms and architectures.
•    Lead and support cost optimization activities such as, ideas generation for cost pipeline, cost ideas scoping, ideas execution and validation, cost workshop, etc. 


Minimum requirements


•    Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Materials Engineering 

Preferred skills and experiences


•    Master’s Degree in Chemical or Material Engineering  
•    1+ years of experience in polymers science
•    Basics in plastic parts and tooling design
•    Troubleshooting experience in resins transformation process
•    Experience in six sigma opex
•    Experience on resins selection based on product applications and requirements
•    Knowledge of polymers main failure modes
•    Knowledge in main polymer testing and characterization
•    Fundamentals of all main resin transforming processes
•    Project management skills
