FUNCTION OVERVIEW:

Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Lead Electronics Test Engineer to join our global Manufacturing Quality team. As part of our Global Quality team, the Lead Electronics Test Engineer will lead and direct a team of highly motivated team & serve as the subject matter expert for planning & implementing end of line/final testing for our appliances. To be successful, this position will require a self-motivated individual who is both strategic and operational to advance the standardized hardware and software strategy. This includes full support of New & Existing Product Launch experience in a fast-paced-PC based testing environment; maintaining strong communication between Regional Manufacturing Leads, Regional Quality Teams, New Product & Platform development teams, Electronics Development teams and Test Equipment Suppliers. This position is currently remote and can be located in Southwest Michigan or Iowa. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Become the subject matter expert in the plant for the testing methodologies for a full assembly of products
  • Responsible for leading the Refrigeration testing engineering team globally; driving all end of line testing and final testing at all Refrigeration facilities
  • Develop & implement global testing roadmaps using the standardized software & hardware architecture
  • Lead the Refrigeration Test Team to identify, develop and implement key product tests
  • Develop & present business cases with Regional/Project teams that demonstrate test coverage increase and impact to Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)/ Total Cost of Quality (TCQ)
  • Ownership of Bill Of Process (BOP) and its continuous improvement
  • Build and cultivate partnerships with Electronics & Electrical Systems (EES) & Supply base to ensure adequate electronic board testing
  • Lead and guide team on testing equipment specifications; driving improvement of writing skills
  • Ensure governance of the Minimum Test Standards, Test Plans, Heatmap & other critical test documents
  • Drive standardized testing on the Whirlpool Plants, develop Key Process Indicators and output monitors to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Leverage Best Test Practices across the organization

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electrictronics Engineering
  • 5+ years manufacturing electronics testing experience
  • 5+ years System & sub-system product/process testing of appliance end of line & electronic board level; Field Verification Test (FVT), In-Circuit Test (ICT), Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) testing

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • Manufacturing test-related experience; Refrigeration Sealed Systems
  • Operations/Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC) & Problem Solving
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQC) Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools & Product Development processes
  • Project management experience with the ability to multitask, lead/direct groups, break barriers & inspire teamwork
  • 6-Sigma/Black Belt training and various tools usage such as Design of Experiments; Measurement System Analysis (MSA) Outcome Variables (COV)
  • Serial Communications to learn whirlpool's proprietary protocols (NTL, WIN/WIDE) to implement
  • the test interface
  • Developing business case & justification
  • Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications & Google G Suite
  • Programing languages such as LabView & Visual Basic, C sharp
