FUNCTION OVERVIEW:

Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Global Information System GIS Manager opening to join our Global Product Organization’s Internet of Things (IoT) division. Today, you may be presenting a new innovative idea to the Senior leadership team that will enhance consumer experience and tomorrow you might be guiding the development team to solve a business and time critical problem, or you will have your hands dirty while solving a very complex issue. You may also be leading the development of a new IoT capability or you may be attending a workshop with senior leaders around an upcoming partnership. You will most likely be leading a global, cross-functional team, sometimes with the support of consultants and technical advisors. On most efforts, you will report directly to the Whirlpool’s Global Information System Leadership team.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide effective leadership to multi-disciplined project teams and take action when performance deviates from agreed tolerances
  • Identify and translate, high level business goals into operational objectives for different functions (Backend & the Mobile Apps)
  • Identify best practices / best in class program and incorporate the learnings
  • Design and architect a modular, testable, scalable and measurable system capability solution
  • With hands on experience on requirement gathering, develop system requirement and design specification document for different features and capabilities
  • Use your experience with Agile methodology for project/ product development
  • Participate in the strategy development
  • Support Global Information System’s long-range planning and annual strategic planning processes
  • Actively monitor and deliver insights on the IoT landscape, environmental factors and emerging trends, innovations, best practices, competitor activity and applying this knowledge to improve existing services

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Systems or Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience designing and architecting large scale distributed systems with a focus on building Internet of Things (IoT) applications
  • 3+ years hands on experience using of various IoT (Internet of Things) technologies including Mobile, Java/.NET middleware, M2M, Cloud and implementing industry-scale IoT solutions on at least one cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, using Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • 3+ years working in areas of Complex Event Processing (CEP), Rule Engines (BRMS), Streaming Analytics, Big Data, etc.
  • 3+ years working with data security and analytics

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good working experience on Web Service Integration, REST APIs, WebSockets, Message Hub and Broker Interface
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration, Delivery, Deployment, Testing (CI), (CD) and (CT) process
  • Broad understanding of infrastructure technologies and thorough understanding of scalable, highly available, secure and robust n-tier architectures
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Detail-oriented and have the ability to deliver on time and work under deadline pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead a team of IoT developers and build innovative IP solutions that showcase thought-leadership and creativity
  • Passionate about learning new technologies and creating innovative solutions
  • Self-directed and able to troubleshoot and solve problems independently as well as a team
  • Understand the fundamentals of vendor contracts, negotiations, proposals, and ongoing governance of outsourced relationships
  • Good understanding of Change Management Process
