This role in summary

We are hiring for a Finance Manager, Benefits Accounting, to be located in our global headquarters. This individual is a key member of the Corporate Controller function in Benton Harbor, MI in the US. 
This individual will work closely with and interact with multiple stakeholders in driving company-wide performance. Working directly with international teams across Whirlpool, including Human Resources, External Reporting, Corporate and Regional Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Treasury, Regional Finance, and Operational Finance to deliver monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables as well as driving opportunities to enhance the external reporting processes.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Manage and own monthly and quarterly accounting close processes for pension and Other Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB) as well as all other employee benefits under US GAAP
    • Coordinate and review the preparation of 10-Q and 10-K disclosures for benefits accounting matters 
    • Provide leadership over accounting transactions, close process, and financial reporting systems
    • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, exercise discretionary and decision-making authority over strategies, policies, quality standards and closing process
    • Support employee benefits outlook and budgeting processes for Corporate Controller’s function, North America and other Regions global to enable strategic decision making
    • Review and analyze financial results to ensure reasonability and consistency with overall financial objectives
    • Actively drive robust SOX control environment for benefits accounting and for financial reporting
    • Proactively monitor evolutions in the financial reporting landscape
  • Manage and drive process efficiency
    • Deliver continuous improvements in the benefits accounting processes to drive simplification and overall reduction to the processing and cycle time
    • Drive improvements in key financial processes to optimize efficiency

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management or Business 
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate finance

Preferred skills and experiences

  • CPA
  • Experience with US GAAP
  • Strong Verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Experience in managing and engaging team members
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines
  • SAP and BPC
  • Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Google tools (sheets & slides)
