Engineering Technology Analyst

 

Function Overview:

 

This role is in the Advanced Development & Innovation group centered on laundry and dishwashing.  The team you would be working with is responsible for feeding potential concepts to our product development teams globally. For each concept delivered, you will have to prove feasibility through functioning prototypes, consumer testing to ensure consumers see the value, rough understanding of manufacturing to ensure the feature or product cost is aligned with the market value, product is safe for our consumer to use, and provide knowledge documentation for the hand off to the product development team.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • This role will require the person to be a technical engineer 
  • Owner of project subsystem(s) in the Advanced Development & Innovation space  
  • Work with and interact with marketing leads, consumer advocates and project lead to define subsystem requirements and verify concepts with consumers 
  • Ensure your subsystem will not cause harm to the consumer you will work with the product approval team to ensure the safety of the subsystem and project
  • Development of your subsystem will require strong communication with designers and members of the technical team to develop concepts and final design of your subsystem  
  • You will be responsible for your subsystem from concept development to low volume production (200-2,000 Units)  
  • You will have to develop expertise in critical areas required by the subsystem through research and subject matter experts within Whirlpool and strategic partners 
  • Development, testing and prototyping of your subsystem / components will be owned by you
  • Documentation including design constraints, technical theory and testing data needs to be created for a successful transfer to the product development team.
     

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering 
  • Experience in Product Safety 
  • 1+ years of Mechanical Design experience
  • Experience using CAD

 

Preferred Requirements:

 

  • Experience with PTC Creo Software or similar software
  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering 
  • Knowledge of thermal management principles as they relate to structural interactions and trade-offs.
  • Basic Simulation Based Design (SBD) Experience
  • Basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Experience
  • Laundry or Dishwasher Experience
