This position of Senior Electrical Engineer is focused on Components Development. The engineer will be a member of Whirlpool’s Electronics, Electrical Systems and Innovation Organization, a global team of close to 500 people developing cutting edge electronics for home appliances. The position reports to the Components Team Manager based in North America, with peers in USA, Poland, and Brazil. The primary role is to develop new sensor and actuator technologies with a global, cross category impact. The day-by-day therefore will require this Senior Engineer to be creative and to deep dive into the physics and electronics of each project in order to fully understand, map and optimize the final solutions.



  • Write specifications for new features, sensors, and actuators. (Examples could include temperature sensors, humidity sensors, pressure sensors, heaters, water valves, speed sensors, optical devices, electro-mechanical actuators, etc.)
  • Explore multiple technical solutions for each problem and select the appropriate ones.
  • Work either independently, or through supplier partnerships, to develop new component technologies using Electronics, Mechanics and Physics knowledge
  • Document all findings through Design Guides and Application Guides
  • Validate and release new sensor technologies, allowing easy handover to the product design teams
  • Own and contribute to roadmaps and strategic plans on the components space
  • Act as Project Manager to drive own activities and suppliers
  • Pursue Intellectual Property opportunities
  • Regional/international travel, once a year on average



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science
  • 7 + years’ experience in Electronics and/or Electromechanics development
  • 5+ years of experience in Sensor and/or electromechanical actuators development and application, Hardware development, Systems design, and optics design and/or their application
  • 1+ years of experience with EMC/EMI (Electromagnetic Compatibility/Interference) effects, problem solving and standards



  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge/Certification on 6-Sigma tools
  • Familiar with UL/IEC standards, preferred IEC 60335-1
  • Presentation and communication skills
  • Work cross-functionally and globally
  • Create schedules and execute independently
