Communications Content Senior Specialist


Function Overview

The Corporate Reputation Team, Global Communications is currently seeking a team member with strong writing, design, and video production skills to assist in creating story content through our external channels that drive engagement, amplify reputation and build employee advocates.


As the Communications Content Specialist at our Benton Harbor, MI corporate headquarters you will conceptualize, develop, and execute new stories through video, graphic design, and journalistic storytelling. The team focuses on information, inspiration and connection, to accelerate the growth and reputation of our global company and portfolio of brands.


Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in our newsroom to identify, research and write stories on Whirlpool Corporation
  • Collaborate in the ideas and development of original graphic design concepts that align with the Whirlpool Corp corporate style guide, remaining relevant and visionary
  • Shoot and edit video and play a key role in the production of video storytelling
  • Maintain video vendor relationships to align and recommend appropriate vendors for internal videos
  • Update and organize our video archive
  • Create our Daily News newsletter
  • Drive employee advocacy as a key team player
  • Work both within team projects and independently
  • Share knowledge, experience, and skills to the reputation team and cross functional communications teams, working to ensure continuity across communication channels and areas of focus
  • Lead projects, establish direction and advance projects by others
  • Develop, establish and strengthen authentic connections with diverse audiences through the lens of earning trust and creating demand for our products and services
  • Support the creation and visualization of corporate storytelling through visual and written communications
  • Observe, identify, and develop new assets to amplify the corporate reputation
  • Maintain active participation on our employee advocacy initiatives
  • Develop compelling oral and written presentations
  • Collaborate with other design and creative disciplines to ensure best practices and outcomes


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2+ years of experience in writing/content creation


Preferred Requirements

  • Degree in Graphic Design, Videography or, Journalism/English
  • Superior writing skills; the ability to write quickly, clearly, accurately and creatively
  • Basic photography and video skills
  • Above average graphic design skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Self-starter with creative and business writing/editing experience, keen eye for detail, and process-oriented mindset
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Formal design training  and experience in a corporate or consulting environment
  • Love working as part of a team
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and work in an environment with tight deadlines, changing priorities
  • Excellent self-motivation
  • Adaptability and flexibility to change as designs and processes improve over time
  • Project management and planning skills
