Associate Legal Counsel - Commercial/Sales

 

 

This role in summary:

We are seeking qualified candidates for an Associate Legal Counsel, Commercial/Sales position to join our highly dynamic Global Law Department. The law department is made up of over 200 collaborative employees around the world who together are responsible for protecting the company and advancing company strategy.

 

This role will be responsible for providing strategic guidance and legal counsel, working closely with the North American Region (NAR) sales organization advising on a variety of commercial, sales, ecommerce, pricing and promotions, and antitrust matters for major appliances, including marketing advice for Gladiator Garageworks products and Commercial Laundry. This is a dynamic and fast paced role with opportunity to work closely with many cross-functional business partners and manage the commercial legal work for two business units.

 

This is a role with potential for upward mobility to grow your career.  

 

One day you might be advising senior business partners on antitrust risks related to new go to market strategies. The next day you might be negotiating strategic agreements with Whirlpool’s trade customers. Every day you will be challenged to help drive business results and sales leadership while protecting the company against legal risks, as well as identifying and implementing new processes, resources and training to help drive results and minimize risk and cost.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as a legal advisor to business partners to drive results and protect the company.
  • Draft, edit, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial and distribution/sales agreements in a manner that manages business and legal risk, while effectively supporting internal and external customers in a timely manner and fast-paced environment.
  • Provide practical advice on competition, sales, distribution, marketing, and ecommerce matters.
  • Identify, develop, and implement legal training, business resources, and processes to drive efficient and effective legal support.
  • Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with sales, finance, operations, and other key stakeholders across our organization. 

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Admission to at least one state bar (with ability to seek admission to Michigan bar)
  • 2+ years of legal experience 


Preferred skills and experiences:

  • Legal experience is areas such as sales, antitrust or contracts
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a large volume of concurrent projects
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills
  • Collaborative approach and mindset 
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results as a member of a cross functional team
