Analyst, Electrical Engineering

 

Function Overview:

Improve and maintain field-oriented and direct torque control algorithms embedded in our products globally. Develop, maintain and improve motor control software architecture to ensure fast and efficient execution of motor control projects. Provide coaching and mentoring to those in this domain along with overall leadership in this space company-wide.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Translate technical/sub-system attribute targets into module/component targets.
  • Plan motor control activities aligned with project need and timing.
  • Work with motor and platform engineers to drive appropriate tradeoffs to deliver subsystem level attribute targets.
  • Use appropriate tools and test methods to ensure fully functional and robust motor control software prior to integration into platforms.
  • Create modules/libraries and facilitate reuse of knowledge globally.
  • Collaborate across functional and geographic boundaries to leverage global knowledge and deliver winning solutions.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in creating and integrating core motor control algorithms for permanent magnet motors and controlled induction motors into products.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Motor Control preferred.
  • Ph.D. Degree is preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of electrical machines particularly Permanent Magnet (Brushless Direct Current) BLDC and (Brushless Alternating Current) BLAC.
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing motor control methodologies particularly Field Oriented and Direct Torque controls
  • Understanding of higher level control schemes such as feedback, feedforward, and model predictive control.
  • Proficiency in embedded C programming and debugging tools.
  • Proficiency in Matlab /Simulink tools and familiarity with (Software in the Loop) SIL, (Model in the Loop) MIL, (Processor in the Loop) PIL, (Hardware in the Loop) HIL methodologies.
  • FMEA, requirements management, project management, problem-solving methodologies, and tools.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional and global team.
  • Good communication and self-management skills.
