"Software Engineer"

 

The Basics

The Cycle Design Engineer (Analyst, Engineering) role is located within our Laundry Performance subsystem and is based in Monterrey, Mexico. This role is responsible for the development of wash performance, cycle logic, and algorithms for our top-load clothes washing machines. The engineer will collaborate with architecture, subsystem, and cross-functional teams in the design, integration, and validation of wash systems that satisfy project requirements and delight our consumers. This global role supports opportunities for you to learn and grow in your career through project experience and engineering competency development. 

 

What You Will Do / Your Day to Day

  • Understand and translate the Voice of the Consumer (VOC) to appropriate engineering metrics and targets in pursuit of optimized wash performance

  • Develop an understanding of the fundamental physics that drive wash performance and leverage these principles in the construction of engineering trade-off analyses and models

  • Conceptualize, design, implement, and manage cycle logic and wash algorithms across top-load washer architectures in alignment with Cycle Design module roadmaps

  • Lead the Cycle Design module as release engineer within advanced / innovation projects and production development projects, owning all aspects of wash performance and managing integration with architecture, subsystem, and cross-functional teams.

  • Deliver wash systems that are robust to product and field variation, demonstrating engineering rigor through the use of tools including Six Sigma, sequential experimentation, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design Verification Plans (DVP), and Critical Parameter Management/Cpk

  • Develop and execute test plans in coordination with system integration, product approval, and the lab organizations for the verification and validation of module and system-level requirements, including compliance to regulatory requirements by region.

  • Contribute to module technology roadmaps, complexity reduction, continuous improvement, and knowledge capture in the advancement of the global Cycle Design module

  • Collaborate with product marketing in the development and substantiation of performance claims

  • Collaborate with Consumer Science and the global Performance subsystem in the development of new and improved test procedures and metrics.

 

Background and Experiences (Minimum Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Aerospace or Mechatronic Engineering

  • 2+ years experience in the appliance / consumer goods industry or other relevant industry experience

 

Background and Experiences (Preferred Requirements)

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechatronic Engineering

  • 5+ years experience in the appliance / consumer goods industry or other relevant industry experience

  • Lean/Six Sigma certification and experience with statistical analysis

  • Background in fundamental physics principles, including understanding of thermal, fluid, and mechanical systems

  • Basic knowledge of computer programming languages and familiarity with software development

  • Strong critical thinking skills, an agile approach to problem solving, and a continuous improvement mindset

  • Demonstrated passion for improving consumer satisfaction
