GIS Manager for SOA and Platform Integration

Reports to: GIS Senior Manager

Location: Apodaca, Nuevo León

Scope: LAR North (Mexico, Central America, Caribbean, Andean)

 

Job summary

The Global Information Systems organization is looking for an IT manager with a balanced (business and technology architecture) profile that leads all efforts and delivers business results related to the implementation of our Service Oriented Architecture and the integration of platforms to our technology architecture.

 

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate will have an excellent understanding of the business and technical architecture perspectives of  a Service Oriented Architecture design and deployment and a clear understanding on how to match the technical implementation to measurable business results. This person will also be accustomed to work with cross-functional business stakeholders and be able to embed all business requirements into the technical architecture design. English level at 80% minimum is a must.

 

To be successful in this role, the person will need to have a business mindset, continuously demonstrate end to end accountability, be business outcome focused, be knowledgeable on the architecture of digital ecosystems, highly proactive and have good experience in agile methodologies.

 

Responsibilities

This position will have the main responsibility of driving Whirlpool’s strategic architecture direction for our Service Oriented Architecture approach that includes core systems such as middleware, API management, PIM, DAM, MDM and other critical backend integrations. The ultimate goal is to ensure an ecosystem of fit-for-purpose core technology platforms that allows Whirlpool to achieve its business results. Other key elements of this role are to ensure our ecosystem is stable, agile, functional, and scalable, while leveraging reusable assets in order to ensure compliance with security and data privacy standards. The ecosystem is end-to-end and of a regional and/or global approach so partnering with various business and GIS digital stakeholders, at global and regional level will be a key activity for this position.

 

This position will have accountability on the technical deployment, evolution and operations support of all topics related to his scope of responsibility.

 

As a GIS manager, you will:

  • support the alignment and execution of Whirlpool’s strategic imperatives and the enablement of all the digital capabilities related to each imperative.

  • own the delivery of business results

  • help to build and maintain a world class technology ecosystem, and support the digital transformation of the company. 

  • lead the development of technology strategy and solution roadmap, the technical design of solution architecture, the evaluation of short and long term technology solutions 

  • work and align with internal, external, and global sponsors on key changes, priorities and strategies to meet Whirlpool business needs and drive business value.

  • ensure an agile delivery (Using the SCRUM methodology) of business solutions and results is executed and in a cost efficient way.

  • ensure all incidents, requests, changes and problems are addressed according to Whirlpool best practices.

  • Plan, monitor and control a well thought project and operations budget that is aligned with business performance.

 

In summary, this role is to be a trusted partner that serves as a technical subject matter expert (SME)  to translate business processes and needs into technology roadmaps, projects, operational, and continuous improvement solutions in partnership with development and architecture teams, technical SMEs, and internal or external vendors. 


 

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related career. A Master's degree is a PLUS. 

  • Work experience of 5+ years in the following: 

    • Systems Integration

    • Cloud migration and integration 

    • working with cross-functional teams located different regions

    • Technology architecture evaluation and definition

    • Thorough understanding of how to integrate business needs into a technology architecture.

  • Technical skills/experience:

    • Service Oriented Architecture

    • Strong foundation in Enterprise Application Integration (EAI)

    • MicroServices architecture

    • API Management 

    • SOA Integration Patterns, ESB, API Gateway patterns, REST API, OData, OAuth 2.0

    • Serverless Architecture 

    • AWS (API Gateway, AWS Lambda , AWS Kinesis , AWS DynamoDB)

    • Strong understanding of application security architecture

    • Hybrid Cloud Integration - iaaS, PaaS, SaaS

  • Other skills: 

    • Highly proactive, solution oriented, business outcome focused, cross-functional team player.

    • Ability to network across multiple departments and organizations with a proven track record of winning. 

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and commitments concurrently.

    • Ability to assess and analyze multiple solutions and propose options to execute or mitigate risks.

  • Effectively manage capital and expense budgets

  • Proven knowledge on agile methodologies. SCRUM Master certification is a PLUS.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • English level: above 80%

  • SAP ECC-SD knowledge is a plus
