This role in summary

The MES Engineer will perform technical analysis activities, such as requirements gathering and performing gap analysis of user requirements against software functionality as well as defining MES solutions. The MES Engineer will be working in a manufacturing environment and responsible for production support, including troubleshooting, upgrading existing MES applications, providing new application design and implementation. The MES Engineer will provide manufacturing support utilizing statistical methods for continuous improvement and provide technical input and engineering support in problem resolution. The MES Engineer will work with the corporate MES team to implement and support the roll-out of the corporate-based MES systems.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Specify, design, develop, document, test, and implement manufacturing execution systems. Operate in a team environment with minimal supervision and develop/configure code.
  • Define functional requirements through client interviews, documentation analysis, and Work Flow Process Mapping along with the development of modification to and/or new software for existing MES system
  • Estimate the technical effort and cost required to implement MES solutions as well as proactively report on project progress against schedules.
  • The establishment/updating of maintenance SOPs for the existing software systems.
  • Provide application support and maintenance on vendor-provided MES systems for Quality, Materials, and Production.
  • Provide systems hardware support for the MFG data center
  • Coordinate plant outages for OS and application patching/Fixes, security/patching, and hardware refreshes for MFG servers and MFG workstations PCs.
  • Work with the Global Information System Group to Perform server maintenance, disaster recovery, and backup of devices and databases.
  • Provide hardware support/ maintenance of Industrial computer-based hardware, Networking connectivity, and supporting peripherals (Scanners, Printers, etc)
  • Troubleshoot / Resolve hardware and application issues.
  • Troubleshoot/ Identify network issues and work with Global Information System Group to resolve. Provided training as needed to application users.

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with MES applications (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering
  • SQL programming experience writing custom queries, reports, custom labeling, web-based reports, and displays.
  • Troubleshooting experience dealing with DB, software, and functional processes
  • Programming experience  in one or more of the following: VB, C#, ASP, JAVA, PL/SQL., Ignition
  • Experience with one or more of the following DBM software: Sql Server, Oracle, DB2.
  • Experience with SCADA level Systems like Ignition, Wonderware, RSview
  • Experience with PLC and HMI programming
